Artist Statement

My work is concerned with an ongoing inquiry into identity, mortality, repetition, time and memory. Frequently using provocative and thought-provoking notions and concepts I attempt to influence a change in the mind of the viewer by encouraging them to imagine their own life and memories as art.

In my most recent work Madeleine, I transcribe one of the most significant and poignant moments in 20th century literature, a passage of text from Marcel Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time).

“Memory is beauty and magnificence mixed with sorrow and regret. It is the majestic moments in time once again revealed to us and then snatched away forever. To truly experience a memory is to fully understand and accept that the moment is and will be gone forever.”
