Artist Statement

‘We wear the architecture of our everyday lives like a skin with the expectation that it will always be there to protect us and continue to provide the shell within which we become defined’

The home is often seen as being a comforting and personal environment in which we are at ease in. However with influences from Sigmund Freud’s Das Unheimliche (The Uncanny) I aim to transform the domestic realm into something entirely different. By heightening our experience with the mundane furniture we surround ourselves with I aim for the audience to take note of the everyday and the overlooked.
